One of our favorite places to be is in the kitchen. We love to bake and cook and it all stemmed from our mom's passion of cooking. She would find a recipe that she loved, and then make it all year long. We used to say, "That was the year of the cheesecakes" or "That was the year of cinnamon rolls." Some of our fondest memories revolve around cooking together in the kitchen. We love to get together as family and contribute our best recipes for the meal. And we are constantly calling each other saying, "You've got to try this recipe!" We'd like to share our favorite recipes with you. So, happy cooking, happy baking, happy eating, and then happy exercising afterwards to burn those calories!

Cream Cheese Bars

My friend Raylene is one of the most amazing women in the world. She can build, create, paint, and do anything! And that includes baking. Each year she has an annual ornament exchange party around Christmas time, and you should see the amazing ornaments that she creates. They are among my favorite on my tree. When I was at her party this past Christmas, she had these Cream Cheese Bars that just looked way too tempting. And so I tried one. Let's just say that it was probably not safe for me to be sitting in a chair that was so near the dessert table because I kept going back for more and more of these. They are simply heaven! Although they are a dessert, I have also made them to bring to baby shower and birthday brunches.

Cream Cheese Bars

INGREDIENTS:

- 2 cans Pillsbury crescent rolls (can use generic)

- 2 (8 oz.) cubes of cream cheese, softened

- 1 tsp. vanilla

- cinnamon

- 1 1/2 cups sugar, divided

- 1 stick butter, melted

DIRECTIONS:

1. In a mixing bowl, mix 1 cup of the sugar with the 2 cubes of cream cheese and the vanilla. Mix until smooth.

2. In a PAM-sprayed 9x13 pan, roll out one can of crescent roll dough onto the bottom of the pan and press using your fingers to cover the bottom of the pan and keep the seams together.

3. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the first layer of rolls.

4. Roll out the second can of rolls on top of the cream cheese layer, doing your best to spread it out evenly.

5. Mix the remaining 1/2 cup sugar with the melted butter, and pour over the top layer of rolls.

6. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon over the top layer.

7. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool, cut and serve. (Can be served room temperature or chilled).
